Krita for MAC
Free, open-source painting app for illustration, concept art, comics and 2D animation.
Krita Overview
Krita is a free, open-source digital painting app made by artists who want affordable art tools for everyone. It is built for illustration, concept art, matte painting, textures, comics and frame-by-frame animation, and it has the brushes, layers and color tools you would expect from a paid painting program. Krita is developed by the KDE community with support from the Krita Foundation and released under the GPLv3 license, with no ads, subscriptions or paid features.
Krita works well with a mouse, but it shines with a drawing tablet: pressure, tilt and rotation all shape your brush strokes. The current Mac version runs on macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later.
Key Features
Krita puts painting first, with a clean canvas, a customisable interface and tools designed for drawing.
- Brushes: more than a hundred ready-made brushes built on many brush engines, plus brush stabilizers that smooth shaky lines.
- Pop-up palette: right-click the canvas to pick colors and brushes without leaving your drawing.
- Layers and masks: paint, vector, filter, fill and file layers, layer groups, transparency and filter masks, and blending modes.
- Drawing assistants: perspective, ellipse and other assistants help you draw straight lines, curves and accurate perspective.
- Wrap-around mode: paint seamless patterns and textures that tile without visible edges.
- 2D animation: frame-by-frame animation with a timeline, onion skinning and audio, exported to video or image sequences.
- Color management: work in RGB, CMYK and other color spaces with ICC profiles, including HDR painting.
- Files and resources: opens and saves PSD files as well as its own KRA format, and shares brushes and palettes as resource bundles.
- Python scripting: automate tasks and add new features with plugins.

ScribusScribus is a free, open-source desktop publishing program for page layout and print production. You build documents with master pages, guides and bleed areas, place images and text in frames, and export the result as a PDF that a commercial printer can use. Reliable PDF creation has been central to the project from the start: Scribus was the first desktop publishing program to support the demanding PDF/X-3 specification, and it can also export PDF/X-1a:2001 and PDF/X-4, along with PDF presentations and forms for the screen. Color is the other strength, with RGB, CMYK, LAB/HLC, spectral and spot colors, color management that leaves you in control, and an emulator that shows how a design looks to people with color vision deficiencies.Graphic Design
